Serious Game Reviews
Most educators eager to integrate serious games into the curriculum are not trained or funded for game development must choose an off-the shelf or online game. These educators face a special set of questions. What game should I choose? How will I know if it meets the course’s learning objectives? Will students learn from it, or perceive it to be merely an entertaining waste of time? What if students find it boring? Well, here’s something you could use to evaluate.
These rubrics were developed and tested by instructors and a whole lot of students. We tried to address the major concern of of early adopters educators. They believed they could accurately judge the content of a serious game but also wanted to know if the game was actually engaging for students.
