You should also wait for your turn to be able to throw in an oversized chip. If you do this correctly, you’ll be able to make your opponents think that you have a very strong hand.

During the course of the game, each player must place bets into the pot. The first bet is called the “ante”, which is usually a small bet. You may also be required to contribute money to the pot before the deal.

The ante is usually around $1 or $5. Depending on the game, the ante may be placed as a blind bet or as a bet that is a mandatory part of the game.
